After weeks of speculation, the Columbus Blue Jackets have officially announced their new head coach, Dean Evason.
Following a disappointing season, the team hired and fired Pascal Vincent within the same year. Now, they've named former Minnesota Wild coach Dean Evason as his replacement.

Despite leading the Minnesota Wild to four straight playoff appearances, Evason was fired after a rough start to the 2023/24 season, with a 5-10-4 record. However, his tenure in Minnesota proved he is a capable head coach.
With the addition of
Sean Monahan and the expected arrival of several young stars, the Blue Jackets have a talented roster for the 2024/25 season. Evason's experience in developing young talent makes him a promising fit for the team.
While only time will tell if he lasts longer than Vincent's one-year stint, Evason's multi-year contract suggests the Blue Jackets believe he is the coach to lead them out of their rebuilding phase.
