Drake makes a massive bet for the NHL Stanley Cup Final

The excitement for the Edmonton Oilers is at an all-time high across Canada, with fans hoping to see the first Stanley Cup win by a Canadian team since 1993. The Oilers are just four wins away from their first title since 1990 when they were led by Hall of Famer Mark Messier.

Although he's a Toronto loyalist, Canadian rapper Drake has placed a huge bet on the Oilers to win the Stanley Cup against the Florida Panthers. He bet $500,000 on both the NBA's Dallas Mavericks to win the title over the Boston Celtics and the Oilers to beat the Panthers. If both bets come through, Drake stands to win $1.35 million.

Drake shared a screenshot of his bets on Instagram, captioning it with: "Dallas cause I'm a Texan Oilers are self explanatory."

This isn't Drake's first big sports bet. With an estimated net worth of $250 million, he's known for his gambling. He won about $2.3 million after betting $1.15 million on the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl. In 2022, he bet $400,000 and won $1.2 million after predicting the opening round series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning would go to seven games.

The Stanley Cup Final between the Oilers and Panthers starts this weekend at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise. Who will take the lead in this first-ever postseason matchup between the two teams?
