Jesse Puljujarvi and head coach Ville Peltonen moved on, but Geneve-Servette's Game 7 win was overshadowed by chaos between fans in the stands.

The result was decisive. The atmosphere wasn't.
Geneve-Servette eliminated Lausanne HC with a 5-1 win, punching their ticket to the next round. That should've been the headline.
Instead, the night took a turn away from the ice.
At some point around the end of the game, tensions between spectators escalated. It wasn't directed at players or officials.
Fans began clashing with each other in lower sections. Objects were thrown downward between groups.
That's when things got out of hand.

Security response shifts focus off the ice

Police units were brought in to regain control inside the arena. They moved along key access points near the glass and seating areas.
The priority shifted immediately. This was no longer about the score.
Details on exact timing remain unclear, but the scene unfolded as emotions were already high late in the game.
Some fans in attendance said the tension had been building throughout the game, long before things spilled over.
Puljujarvi, who recorded 52 points in 52 games this season, was part of a group that had delivered when it mattered most.
Ville Peltonen's team handled its business on the ice. Structure held. Execution followed. A four-goal margin in a Game 7 says enough.
On the other side, Geoff Ward's Lausanne group saw its season end in difficult conditions.
Moments like this linger. Not because of tactics or line changes, but because of everything around them.
League officials will now take a close look at what happened in the stands. Crowd control and potential sanctions are now part of the conversation.
Because a Game 7 should carry playoff drama.
Not scenes that force police to step in between fans.
