Greater Napanee resident Troy Wylie, 31, tragically passed away today in a motorcycle accident.
Wylie was a dedicated hockey player and community member. He played junior hockey with the Napanee Raiders, where he was a key player and served as an alternate captain from 2011 to 2015. Recently, he had been playing recreational senior league hockey with the Deseronto Bulldogs, appearing in 10 games last season with plans to return for the 2024-25 season.
The Napanee Raiders shared a heartfelt statement, remembering Wylie as a versatile player and a kind person off the ice. They expressed their condolences to his fiancée Chelsea, his parents Pete and Tammy, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
"Our Organization is devastated this morning by the news of the tragic passing of Troy Wylie at the age of 31. Troy played for the Raiders from 2011-12 to 2014-15 and served as an alternate captain many of those years. The Kingston native could capably play forward - where he was seldom lost a battle along the boards - and defense, where he could be counted on for making simple, smart zone exits.
He was incredibly dedicated through goods times and bad. He was remembered by those who played with him and coached him as a great teammate, a hard worker, and a kind, respectful person away from the rink who loved his family and friends. We extend our condolences to Troy's fiance Chelsea, his parents Pete and Tammy, their family, and the many whose lives were better for having known him."

The Deseronto Bulldogs also honored Wylie, commemorating his life and impact on the team.

Wylie will be deeply missed by his loved ones, and his passing serves as a reminder to always drive safely and be mindful of cyclists and motorcyclists on the road. Our thoughts are with Troy's family and friends during this difficult time.
