The Colorado Avalanche have signed former Calgary Flames defenseman Oliver Kylington.
Kylington, who became an unrestricted free agent just over a month ago, has found a new home with the Avalanche. The team announced on social media on Monday that they agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $1.05 million USD with the Stockholm, Sweden native.
"The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the organization has signed defenseman Oliver Kylington (pronounced CHIH-lihng-tuhn) to a one-year contract for the upcoming 2024-25 season." The Avs said in a press release on their website.
Kylington, 27, has spent his entire career with the Calgary Flames, who selected him in the second round, 60th overall, in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He has been open about his mental health struggles and took the 2022-23 season off to focus on his well-being.
In 33 games for the Flames last season, Kylington recorded eight points (three goals, five assists), had 12 penalty minutes, and finished with a minus-six rating.
