Sacha Boisvert dropped the gloves in his second NHL game, and Luke Richardson got an early look at the edge in his young forward.
That’s a quick statement.
Boisvert didn’t fight in his debut. But one game later, he answered the call against Will Borgen and didn’t hesitate.
That’s the kind of response coaches notice right away.
In his first NHL game, Boisvert logged 9:03 of ice time on the fourth line, followed by 10:05 in his second outing.
He has recorded a -1 rating in both games so far, with just one shot on goal.
The usage has been simple and controlled.
Straightforward role.
He also played solid tonight.
Boisvert didn’t wait long to make his presence felt, dropping the gloves and immediately sending a message.
That kind of response matters, especially for a young player trying to earn trust, and he showed right away that he’s not afraid of the moment.
It wasn’t a perfect night overall, but stepping in like that takes confidence, and it’s exactly the kind of edge coaches love to see.

Boisvert adds edge to his early NHL profile
While I liked his first game, this second one added something new.
Physical pushback. Boisvert showed he’s not just trying to survive shifts, he’s willing to engage.
That matters on a team like Chicago. The Blackhawks aren’t asking him to drive offense yet.
They want structure, pace, and compete. The fight checks one of those boxes in a big way. It also shows confidence.
Young players don’t always step into that moment this early. Boisvert did.
And he did it without overthinking it.
That’s usually a sign he’s comfortable enough at the NHL level to react instead of hesitate.
The coaching staff will value that, i'm sure.
Because roles on this team are still being defined. Ice time isn’t guaranteed. You earn it shift by shift.
Boisvert’s first game showed where he is technically. His second game showed where he is mentally. Willing to engage. Willing to answer. That combination gives him a real shot to stick.
And if this is how he’s starting, this won’t be his last fight.
More importantly, it won’t be his last opportunity either.
