Tom Wilson turned Capitals vs Flyers into a rink-wide argument after a 4-1 loss, and you could feel the building shake with it.
Washington scored first, then watched Philadelphia drop four unanswered like a hammer.
Ryan Leonard opened it on the man advantage, his 13th, with Alex Ovechkin and Pierre-Luc Dubois picking up the helpers.
After that, it was Travis Konecny, Trevor Zegras, Jamie Drysdale, and an empty-net dagger from Owen Tippett.
The box score says 4-1, but the temperature said something else.
The buzzer hit and everybody suddenly remembered how much they hate each other.
A hot mic even caught Wilson firing off a classic «nerd» chirp, the kind that makes both fanbases grin and grind their teeth at the same time.
Dubois didn't dodge it after, he praised Wilson for trying to drag the Caps into the fight and into the game.
That quote lands because Washington needed a pulse, not another quiet third period.
Tom Wilson gives Washington Capitals their bite back
Caps fans have been begging for some snarl lately, and this was the loudest version of it, even in a loss.
Philadelphia had 71 points too, so this didn't feel like a random midweek game.
It felt like two teams staring at the same slice of the standings and refusing to blink.
The Flyers fed off the home noise, and the «after the whistle» stuff only poured gasoline on it.
That's the part people clip, not because it's pretty, but because it's honest.
Now Washington has to turn that energy into cleaner shifts and actual offense next time, or it's just heat with no points.
