Top NHL prospect set to be terminated following waivers

Top NHL prospect Vladislav Firstov has been placed on unconditional waivers by the Minnesota Wild for the purpose of contract termination.

The Minnesota Wild have decided to part ways with prospect Vladislav Firstov, terminating his contract. This move follows the team placing him on unconditional waivers today.

Firstov, a second-round pick in 2019, spent the recent season with the Iowa Wild in the AHL. He initially showed promise after a successful stint in the USHL and a college hockey career at the University of Connecticut. However, after returning from a loan to the KHL's Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, he played just 10 games with the Iowa Wild, tallying 4 points, before returning to Russia.

The contract termination now allows Firstov the opportunity to pursue a career in the KHL or explore options with another NHL organization.
