Brett Pesce left the Carolina Hurricanes this summer to join the New Jersey Devils, but the move created some tension within his family.
This NHL off-season was filled with surprising trades and free agent signings, including Pesce's move to New Jersey. The Devils defenseman recently shared that his decision led to a rift with his father. After the Hurricanes' final game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Pesce's father tweeted that he would miss Carolina, which caught Brett off guard.
Pesce, 29, confronted his dad about the tweet, and they didn't speak for a week afterward. Though it's unclear what caused the miscommunication, the situation seems to have been resolved. Pesce is now playing just an hour from his hometown, which should be a positive for him and his family.
Despite the initial tension, Pesce is focused on his new team and has his sights set on winning a Stanley Cup with the Devils, a team he may have grown up admiring.
