The MLB Home Run Derby was a major event on Monday, but it was unfortunately overshadowed by a disastrous National Anthem performance.

In a quiet week for sports, the MLB All-Star weekend was the main highlight, with fans eagerly anticipating the Home Run Derby. However, things took an unexpected turn just before the event started.
Grammy Award winner Ingrid Andress was chosen to sing the National Anthem, but her performance quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons:
Many on social media labeled it as one of the worst anthem performances in sports history. The situation became clearer when Andress addressed the incident.
»I'm not gonna bulls**t y'all, I was drunk last night. I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to the MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I'll let y'all know how rehab is I hear it's super fun.»

Andress admitted she was intoxicated before the event and has committed to entering rehab. While this isn't a great excuse, she is taking responsibility and seeking help. Unfortunately, this incident may follow her for a long time. With the All-Star game coming up, MLB has another chance to capture headlines for positive reasons.
