After many rumors about Trevor Zegras being traded to the Canadiens, Elliotte Friedman confirmed that there was interest between the teams, but it ultimately faded away.
Recently, Montreal Canadiens fans were excited by the possibility of acquiring Trevor Zegras, the ninth overall pick from the 2019 NHL Draft. His skill, youth & energy would have been a great addition to the team's young talent pool. Zegras also has a long standing relationship with Canadiens star Cole Caufield having played together on the World Junior Championship team.
There was talk of the Canadiens possibly offering players like Kaiden Guhle or David Reinbacher along with future draft picks in exchange for Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks.
However during the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Sportsnet journalist Elliotte Friedman confirmed that talks between the Canadiens & Ducks have died down.
"I don't think there was a lot of action around Zergas in terms of trade after the draft"
The Canadiens who recently signed Gustav Lindstrom to strengthen their AHL lineup have struggled in recent seasons after going to the finals in 2021. They are currently in their rebuild hoping to return to the success they enjoyed in the 20th century.
Although the Zegras trade didn't happen, the Canadiens will continue looking for ways to improve their team and, hopefully, end a 31-year Stanley Cup drought for both Montreal and Canada.
Will the Canadiens find their way back to the Finals soon, or will the wait continue for their fans and the organization?
