The San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators completed a trade on Sunday afternoon.
In a social media post, the San Jose Sharks announced that they traded their 2020 first-round pick, Ozzy Wiesblatt, to the Nashville Predators in exchange for forward Egor Afanasyev.
"TRADE 🔄 The #SJSharks acquire forward Egor Afanasyev from the Nashville Predators in exchange for forward Ozzy Wiesblatt."
Wiesblatt, 22, played in the American Hockey League (AHL) for both the San Jose Barracuda and the Milwaukee Admirals, Nashville's affiliate. In 50 games, he scored 17 points (four goals, 13 assists), had 55 penalty minutes, and was a minus-five. He also added nine points in 15 playoff games with the Admirals.
Afanasyev, 23, spent most of the year with AHL Milwaukee, scoring 54 points (27 goals, 27 assists), with 60 penalty minutes and a plus-23 rating in 56 games. He also recorded nine points in 15 playoff games.
