A reporter has proposed a lopsided Mitch Marner trade for the Toronto Maple Leafs sending the star winger to an Eastern Conference team.

Trade rumors involving Mitch Marner continue to circulate, with a New York Islanders reporter suggesting a bold proposal. David Kolb believes Marner would be a perfect fit with Islanders star Matthew Barzal.
Despite Marner's no-movement clause giving him the final say, many teams are interested in the 90+ point forward. The Islanders haven't been highlighted as a key contender, but Kolb's proposal aims to change that. He suggests a package centered around either Ryan Pulock or Adam Pelech, along with several draft picks. However, it's unlikely the Leafs would part with Marner for a defenseman and future assets alone unless the player involved was Noah Dobson, which still seems improbable.
For the Leafs, in a win-now mode, such a trade only makes sense if it becomes a three-team deal, bringing in another immediate contributor. This complicates the trade further, making it less likely.
Kolb notes Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello's preference for "hockey trades," but this proposal seems far from what the Leafs would consider.
