The idea of Mitch Marner joining the Montreal Canadiens is a nightmare for Maple Leafs fans, but a recent surprising trade proposal suggests it could happen.

For months, there has been talk about trading Mitch Marner, but it's hard to imagine the Toronto Maple Leafs moving him to their rivals, the Montreal Canadiens. On the surface, there's no deal that Toronto GM Brad Treliving would realistically accept from Montreal. However, Bodog Casino has stirred the pot by suggesting this idea on social media:
🚨😳 Montreal Mitch?

Could the Habs work a deal with Toronto to land Mitch Marner this offseason? 🤔
When looking deeper into the possibility of a Marner-to-Montreal trade, it's clear that beyond players like Demidov, Slafkovsky, Caufield, Suzuki, and Reinbacher, there aren't many assets in Montreal's organization that Toronto would want, and those top players certainly wouldn't be available. This idea might just be a way to gain attention on social media, as it's very unlikely that GMs Brad Treliving and Kent Hughes would agree on such a big deal.
While unexpected trades do happen in the NHL, this one would be among the most shocking in recent memory. So, don't hold your breath.
