The St. Louis Blues re-acquired their 2025 second-round pick from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday to facilitate their offer sheets to Edmonton Oilers players.
St. Louis got back their 2025 second-rounder, which had been traded to Pittsburgh in the Kevin Hayes deal, along with a 2026 fifth-round pick. In return, the Blues sent Pittsburgh a 2026 second-round pick and a 2025 third-round pick (originally from the Ottawa Senators).
Following the trade, the Blues made offer sheets to Edmonton's Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg. The Blues needed their own second-round pick for potential compensation if Edmonton doesn't match.
The offer sheet for Broberg is a two-year contract worth $4,580,917 per year, which would require the Blues to give up a second-round draft pick if the Oilers don't match. The offer sheet for Holloway is a two-year contract at $2,290,457 per year, requiring a third-round pick as compensation if the Oilers decline to match.
Edmonton has seven days to respond to the offer sheets.
