Elliotte Friedman revealed today on his 32 Thoughts podcast that the Anaheim Ducks are considering trading long-time defenseman and franchise legend, Cam Fowler.
Fowler, drafted 12th overall in 2010, has played all 974 of his NHL games with the Ducks. A 2017 All-Star, he's been a cornerstone of the team for over a decade, logging more than 23 minutes per game throughout his career. However, as new talent like Pavel Mintyukov emerges, the Ducks may be ready for a change.
According to Friedman, Anaheim is exploring the idea of moving Fowler, who has a 28-team no-trade list but is open to a new opportunity. Fowler is signed through the 2025-26 season with a $6.5 million cap hit, which may require some salary retention by the Ducks in a potential trade.
"I don't think anybody will be surprised if some time this season Cam Fowler is elsewhere and from what I've been told it is a positive working environment with him and the Ducks about getting this done and finding him a new place to play."
