The NHL Alumni have announced the passing of former defenseman Larry Trader at the age of 61.

It's a sad day for the hockey community, as news broke that Larry Trader, who played for the Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues, and Montreal Canadiens, has passed away. Trader was a fifth-round pick by the Red Wings in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft and played 55 games with them during the 1982-83 and 1984-85 seasons.
After his time in Detroit, Trader was traded to the St. Louis Blues, where he appeared in six games over two seasons. He later joined the Montreal Canadiens in the 1987-88 season before spending one year in the AHL with the Binghamton Whalers. Trader finished his career in Europe, playing five seasons in Austria and Italy.
Our thoughts are with Larry Trader's family and friends during this difficult time.
