After laying down a brutal hit on the Florida Panthers veteran defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larson, today, Charlie McAvoy has officially learned his fate.
A dirty, unnecessary hit
Given all we know about contact to the head in professional sports, McAvoy's latest hit against Florida was incredibly uncalled for, and it led to not only his ejection from the game, but a meeting with the DPOS.
Boston's Charlie McAvoy has been suspended for four games for an Illegal Check to the Head on Florida's Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
Unfortunately for McAvoy, that has now led to a four game suspension, the same fate suffered by Calgary's Rasmus Andersson after his recent dirty hit.
At this time, there's just no need for this type of hit in the game, and with so many ways to involve yourself physically in the game, this was stupid from McAvoy, and it's safe to say he deserved the punishment.
Paul Maurice also had some comments about the hit which was similar to another one in the same game by Charlie McAvoy. It's almost like he was asking to be suspended.
