REPORT: Boston Bruins Linked To 40 Goal Scorer To Replace Patrice Bergeron
The Boston Bruins, even if they're at the top of the Atlantic Division, could be looking to replace their former captain Patrice Bergeron, by acquiring a top center.
Even if many players stepped up to fill in for Krejci, Bergron and Bertuzzi's absence, the Bruins are looking to add talent to their roster ahead of the playoffs, in order to avoid repeating last year's tough elimination at the first round.
With that in mind, a major trade target emerged.
Lindholm in Boston? Major Revelation by Pierre LeBrun
Must read on PuckReporter
Pierre LeBrun believes that the Bruins would be interested in Flames' Elias Lindholm.
As one of the NHL's great two-way center, Lindholm could bring a lot to the Bruins.
"The Bruins have some level of interest, and I mean, it's a near-perfect fit roster-wise. Retired legend Patrice Bergeron is irreplaceable, but if you're going to think about a player with similar all-around traits — a right-handed center with defensive acumen — Lindholm sure fits the bill."
However, the Bruins have already traded their 2023 and 2024 first round picks for last year's rentals (Bertuzzi and Orlov).
They could decide to give their 2025 first round pick or a prospect to convince the Flames to send him to Boston.
With Lindholm's contract expiring this season, and with the negotiations in Calgary reportedly hitting a snag, don't be surprised if the player moves before the trade deadline.
