The Fate Of Boston Bruins' Goaltenders Has Been Revealed

The Boston Bruins goaltending tandem has been swirled in the rumor mill for a couple of seasons now. Today this continues with new reports on the situation.

Bruins Goalie Tandem Carrying The Team Through Change

The Boston Bruins have undergone a major change to their roster this season. Centers Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci are out and young phenom Matthew Poitras is in. With this turnover, the constant has been the Bruins goaltending.

The tandem of Swayman and Ullmark has been the best duo in the league for multiple seasons now. In 2023-24 this has continued with strong performances from both players.

Linus Ullmark has started 8 games this season posting a 2.23 goals against average and a 0.928 save percentage. Swayman in a technical backup role has played 7 games and has a 1.69 goals-against average and a 0.944 save percentage.

This has led to several teams wanting to take away one or both of the tandem for themselves. Today we got an update on where the Bruins stand in their comfort level of giving either away.

Bruins Address The Fate Of Their Goaltenders

Today a new report confirmed the state of the Bruins tandem from inside the organization. A new quote gives an inside look into Bruins general manager Don Sweeney's thought process.

Teams in dire need of a goaltending upgrade (hello there, Edmonton Oilers!) have been mentioned as possible trade partners if the Bruins were willing to part with Ullmark or Swayman. However, Bruins GM Don Sweeney is unlikely to move either guy.

With the Bruins unlikely to trade away either goalie teams in need of one will need to pivot elsewhere. Luckily there are still plenty of teams with an abundance of goalies just not quite at the quality of the Bruins.
