When Nazem Kadri signed with the Calgary Flames, it appeared as though the team were ready to compete in a wide open Western Conference, but unfortunately for them, that couldn't be further from reality.
According to Darren Dreger of TSN, if the Flames do indeed opt to go the direction many have predicted and rebuild with younger stars, it appears the 33-year old wants out.
Already this season the Flames have seen starring performances from Dustin Wolf, Connor Zary, Matt Coronato and Martin Pospisil, and with several more names waiting in the system, it appears the Flames could look for a quick rebuild by acquiring more 20-22 year old players for this team.
Regardless, if this team isn't looking for a Stanley Cup, the former Avalanche and Maple Leafs star wants out, and despite his $7 million AAV, there's teams that would be interested, especially after his solid run of late in which he's got points in six of his past seven games.
