The NHL saw several blockbusters last summer, but none compared to the Flames moving Matthew Tkachuk for Jonathan Huberdeau and Mackenzie Weegar, and unfortunately for the Flames, it turned out to be quite one-sided in season one.
A massive drop off

After topping 115 points in 2021-22, the expectations were high for Huberdeau in his first year with the Flames, but unfortunately, he struggled in a big way, seeing the biggest drop off in points in NHL history.
There's many reasons for that, but now, the veteran winger has opened up on his struggles last season.
I just wasn't, you know, I just didn't have fun last year. It was the first time in my career that I kind of lost the passion a little bit, to come to the rink. The way I was playing on the ice, it wasn't me. It kind of frustrated me.
Bounce back incoming?
Given what we've come to know about the situation with Darryl Sutter, this comes as no surprise, as Huberdeau became used to the fun, free flowing hockey in Florida, and with Calgary, he was restricted in a big way, limiting everything that made him special in the first place.
Now, the team have handed the reigns to Ryan Huska, as well as adding Marc Savard to their coaching staff, and with the talented Elias Lindholm alongside him, it appears we're in for a big bounce back year from No. 10.
