Elliotte Friedman recently released a rare public report regarding a player from the Flames taking a stance against their head coach, Darryl Sutter. The report stated that Nazem Kadri, the team's star forward, held Sutter responsible for the team's disappointing season. Subsequent reports have emerged, indicating that several players are considering requesting trades if Sutter remains the coach for the Flames next season.
Sutter's journey from farmer to NHL coach is well known. He is known for his low-event style of defensive hockey, demanding practices, and occasionally eccentric behavior. However, these tendencies have increasingly alienated his team, resulting in him losing the dressing room. Sutter's deliberate misremembering of Jakob Pelletier and other similar incidents have exacerbated the tension between him and his players.
The players' dissatisfaction with the situation suggests that it has reached a critical juncture. If the team's management wants to retain their star players and avoid a significant shakeup of their roster, they will need to address these concerns.

«Nazem Kadri has been very vocal about what he's seen in Calgary this season and why they aren't firing on all cylinders
He's been very blunt about the communication between players and the coach

Dean Molberg of The Nation Network, as reported by Bladeofsteel.com , revealed that Nazem Kadri is not the only player dissatisfied with the Flames' coach. Several other players have expressed their desire to request trades if Sutter remains the coach next season.
The team's disappointing performance this season, combined with GM Brad Treliving's expiring contract, has fueled speculation that Sutter's influence could result in a significant overhaul of the entire front office. These reports are reminiscent of the departures of Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk from Calgary, which may have been due to similar issues with Sutter. At present, it appears that the Flames' underwhelming season may lead to significant changes in the front office.
Boomer: "But this goes beyond that (Elliotte's report). What I'm hearing is that there's some players that have basically said "I'm not coming back if this guy is behind the bench. I'm fucking done" - https://t.co/4l4YP21J3B #Flames— Flames Reddit (@FlamesReddit) March 21, 2023
