Flames Cut Ties With Ronni After Criminal Conviction
Topi Ronni was drafted by the Flames in the 2nd round, 59th overall in 2022. Since then he has not progressed particularly well but now it does not matter as the team has renounced their rights to him. This comes after the 19-year-old was convicted of a very serious crime by a Finnish court.
Prospect Topi Ronni's rights have been renounced by the Flames after he was found guilty of **** by a Finnish court. His one-year sentence was suspended. Tappara, his club team, have terminated his contract. After an initial team suspension, he had returned to play for the club.
Ronni's Finnish club Tappara is expected to make an announcement later today regarding Ronni. His contract has reportedly already been terminated by the team. He had previously been suspended for a year by the club while his legal battle was still going on. Now his future in hockey looks bleak at best.
