Before Martin Necas signed his two-year extension with the Carolina Hurricanes, he was close to being traded to the St. Louis Blues.
National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Blues were very interested in acquiring Necas this summer. However, the trade didn't go through, and Necas ended up re-signing with the Hurricanes.
Necas, 25, had a solid season last year with 53 points in 77 games, including 24 goals and 29 assists. The Blues' interest in him was likely due to their need for more offensive depth.
While we'll never know how a move to the Blues would have panned out, it's clear that Necas was a sought-after player.
