The Chicago Blackhawks are preparing for their first season with their new core. After the departure of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews Chicago is looking for new leadership. Many have wondered if their generational draft pick might be the perfect fit.
A new report has confirmed that Connor Bedard will not be the captain for the upcoming NHL season.
"Kyle Davidson said they won't have a captain this season."
This report confirms that Bedard will not be a captain this season but neither will anyone else on the Blackhawks.
Bedard Looking To Fill Massive Shoes In The Future
Eventually, Connor Bedard will likely be named the captain of the Chicago Blackhawks. This will come with a lot of pressure and expectations to live up to the last Blackhawks captain.
Jonathan Toews had a legendary run as the captain of the Blackhawks. Three Stanley Cups and 1,067 NHL games later Toews is taking time away from hockey. He was considered one of the better captains in the NHL during his time particularly due to their team success.
Now Bedard will look to do the same for the new generation of Blackhawks. Players like
Frank Nazar,
Kevin Korchinski, and
Lukas Reichel will be key parts of the core as well. This season will be a good measuring stick for how far along Chicago has come with the addition of Connor Bedard.
