During preseason hockey, the Minnesota Wild faced the Colorado Avalanche, and a tough moment unfolded.
Hunt Knocked Out Cold
In the second period of today's game between Minnesota and Colorado, Daemon Hunt, a Wild defenseman, was on the receiving end of a hard high hit from Avalanche forward Tanner Kero.
Hunt, picked in the third round by the Wild in 2020, has been developing in the AHL. Last season, in his first full AHL season, he had 11 points in 59 games and showed solid defensive skills. He was also a captain in the WHL for two years beforehand showing elite leadership.
Kero, on the other hand, is a 31-year-old forward who moves between the NHL and AHL. He spent the entire previous season in the AHL, scoring an impressive 50 points in 69 games.
While Kero's hit didn't seem intentional, it was a tough moment to watch. We all hope Hunt recovers quickly and can continue pursuing a spot on the roster.
