Johnny Gaudreau's family take to social media and release a heartbreaking statement

The hockey world was shocked by the news of Columbus Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew dying in a bicycle accident. The brothers were cycling when a drunk driver, Sean Higgins, hit them from behind. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Tragically, Johnny Gaudreau was preparing to attend his sister's wedding the following day. The wedding has been called off as the family mourns this devastating loss.

Johnny Gaudreau had just finished an 81-game season, scoring 12 goals and tallying 60 points. He was set to start his third year with the Blue Jackets before his untimely death. His fans will deeply miss him as the new season begins.
