The Dallas Stars are set to buy out veteran Ryan Suter's contract, marking the second time in his career this has happened.
Three years ago, the Minnesota Wild bought out Suter, who then joined the Stars. Over his three seasons with Dallas, Suter played all 82 games each year, recording point totals of 32, 25, and 17. However, with a decline in production in the 2023-24 season, the Stars have decided to buy out his contract.
According to Jeff Marek, the buyout will save Dallas $1.4 million, adding $1.4 million to their cap for the next two seasons. This move frees up funds for the Stars to invest in younger talent and add depth to their roster.
The Dallas Stars are buying out the remainder of Ryan Suter's contract.
With one year remaining on Suter's deal this move will add $1.4 million on the Stars cap for the next two seasons.

It remains uncertain what the future holds for the 39-year-old Suter, but being bought out twice in four years suggests his career may be winding down.
