Evander Kane's major hat-trick on Friday night helped the Edmonton Oilers pick up the 5-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks, and it was a history making one for the Oilers forward.
Evander Kane passes Wayne Gretzky hat-trick record
While it's highly improbable that Kane will ever get close to Gretzky's many records in Edmonton, he did officially beat one with that impressive game.
Fewest games to score 5 Hat Tricks in an Oilers uniform
Evander Kane 130
Wayne Gretzky 136
Glenn Anderson 173
Evander Kane 130
Wayne Gretzky 136

That hat-trick was Kane's fifth as an Edmonton Oiler, and in doing so in just 130 games, he passes Gretzky as the quickest to do it in an Oilers jersey, doing so in six fewer games than The Great One.
A fantastic acquisition for the Edmonton Oilers
When the Oilers acquired Kane, many expressed their negative feelings on the move given his off-ice issues, but since joining Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, he's been a fantastic player for this team.
It remains to be seen whether or not this team can go all the way in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but for now, Kane has passed Wayne Gretzky in one category, and it's certainly an impressive one.
