The Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks may not be natural rivals, but in their Saturday afternoon clash, things have certainly gotten fiery.
Alex DeBrincat takes on the much bigger Ian Cole
In fact, tempers boiled over so much that during the game, Alex DeBrincat, who is certainly not known for his physicality, ended up dropping the gloves with the much bigger Ian Cole.
That's 5'7 165 lbs Alex Debrincat vs 6'1 225 lbs Ian Cole. #LGRW #Canucks
Despite the scrappy effort from the Detroit native, Cole came out on top in a rather one-sided scuffle, but whatever the outcome, it inspired the Red Wings to pick up the 4-3 overtime victory.
Ultimately though, Detroit are paying DeBrincat a lot of money to score goals and drive the offence, so while it's good to see some physicality, the front office won't like seeing him drop the gloves again after this one.
As Read on Blade of Steel - Alex DeBrincat finally bites off more than he can chew, going after a bigger player
