After the Edmonton Oilers hired Stan Bowman as their new GM, thousands of fans have signed a petition calling for his removal.
Stan Bowman has addressed his past actions since being banned from NHL executive positions in 2021, following an investigation into mishandling se**** assault allegations made by Kyle Beach against the Blackhawks video coach Brad Aldrich in 2010. Despite his explanations, Edmonton Oilers fans are reacting strongly.
On Wednesday, Bowman was hired as the new general manager of the Oilers. Almost immediately, a petition was launched online to remove him from the organization. As of now, the petition has nearly 3,000 signatures, with a goal of reaching 5,000.
In his introductory press conference, Bowman acknowledged his past mistakes and expressed regret for his inadequate response in 2010. He emphasized his efforts to learn from the situation and prevent similar issues in the future.
Former NHL player Sheldon Kennedy, co-founder of the Respect Group, attended the press conference and endorsed Bowman. However, many fans are voicing their discontent and are not ready to forgive him.
