Parise Gears Up for an NHL Comeback This Season
After he decided to spend the early part of the season at home with his family, it appears that his competitive spirit has been reignited, and he's giving serious thought to making a comeback.
According to recent reports, Zach Parise is currently in training mode, gearing up for what could be his 19th NHL season. The question now is which team will have the privilege of welcoming him back?
Several Teams in Contention for Parise, Including the Islanders
The Islanders have consistently voiced their support for Parise, making it clear that they have a spot waiting for him whenever he chooses to make his NHL return. Nevertheless, it has come to light that numerous other potential contenders have also expressed interest in acquiring Parise's services, creating a dilemma for the 39-year-old veteran.
"I think he made the right decision for his family (right now), and then we'll just keep the door open for him, As I said to him, we'll keep the (sweater) number open, too." - Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello in September
As Parise approaches the last stretch of his career, the Islanders are currently performing impressively and sitting at the second spot in the Metro Division.
Parise has until the March trade deadline to sign a contract if he wishes to be eligible for participation in the playoffs.
