While going into this season, everyone had the ageing Pittsburgh Penguins roster as hopeful to make the playoffs, but seeing how they finished the season, it's somewhat just sad now.

With two games left in the season, the Penguins had their fate in their own hands. They were playing against two of the worst teams in the National Hockey League this season in the Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets, and with the games on the line and the Playoffs in sight, the Penguins lost both games.
Thus officially eliminating them from the Stanley Cup playoffs, and ended up seeing their entire upper management fired the following day.
Long-time Captain and arguably one of the best player of all time Sidney Crosby would like to hoist another Stanley Cup before he retires, and discusses where he would like to finish up his career.
When asked if he wanted to finish his career in Pittsburgh, Crosby said: "I'd love to. That's been the case since Day 1. I feel really fortunate to have been drafted here. I have great memories. I've got to play with two teammates specifically for a really long time - so I'd love that to be the case."

The Penguins already locked up Malkin and Letang for another few seasons, and Crosby's current contract has 2 years left. Could we see a him signed until his 40's like Letang?
