The Pittsburgh Penguins have promoted Jason Spezza and Amanda Kessel to expanded roles with the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, as part of a series of front office moves announced on Monday.

Spezza, now in his second season as the Penguins' assistant general manager, will take on the additional role of general manager for the AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton team, overseeing all aspects of the franchise.
Kessel has been promoted to manager of minor league operations and assistant general manager of the AHL team. After spending the last two seasons as a special assistant to Penguins' GM Kyle Dubas, Kessel will now assist Spezza with the AHL club and also manage the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers.
Additionally, the Penguins hired Jonathan Erlichman as their new vice president of hockey research, development, and strategy. Erlichman comes to the Penguins after 12 years with the Tampa Bay Rays, where he served as vice president of process and analytics. His role will involve overseeing the team's use of data and analytics for player acquisition, development, and evaluation.
