Rumors are circulating that the Philadelphia Flyers might be interested in restricted free agent Matty Beniers, who has yet to sign with the Seattle Kraken.
Following the recent offer sheets the St. Louis Blues submitted to the Edmonton Oilers for Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg, it seems that Seattle's star, Matty Beniers, could be the next target. The Flyers are reportedly considering a similar move.
Matty Beniers would be an ideal fit for the Flyers, who are in dire need of a strong center. At 20 years old, Beniers is about to enter his prime, making him a valuable asset. The Flyers have plenty of draft picks they could use in an offer sheet, along with the cap space to make an offer Seattle might struggle to match.
As a highly coveted center, Beniers is likely attracting interest from multiple teams, especially those with the necessary cap space and draft picks. If more teams begin to explore offer sheets, we could see a shift in the free agency market, with more focus on restricted free agents (RFA) rather than unrestricted free agents (UFA).
Last season with the Seattle Kraken, Beniers played 77 games, scoring 15 goals and tallying 37 points.
