In breaking news, the Tampa Bay Lightning are expected to add this forward to their roster, just hours before their season opener.
As reported by Elliotte Friedman, the Tampa Bay Lightning are expected to sign forward Austin Watson to a one-year, one-way deal before their season opener tomorrow night.
Watson was on a PTO with the Lightning, and it appears he has now earned a deal with the club after a successful training camp. Last year, Watson played in Ottawa where he got into 75 games, scoring 11 points and 123 penalty minutes.
Watson is a physical force that the Lightning could use in the bottom six of their lineup. However, all eyes remain on the Lightning's goaltender situation, as Vasilevskiy remains out long-term with an injury.
