Concerns Rise Regarding Steven Stamkos' Future In Tampa Bay

Elliotte Friedman dropped a major bombshell on the 32 Thoughts Podcast regarding captain Steven Stamkos' future with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
EF (32TP): "What happens if Tampa is a bubble team and Stamkos isn't signed at the end of the season?"

Marek: "Well, that's what Julien BriseBois talked about at the beginning of the season, we need to see what the season is going to be like here"

EF: "Teams are going to call"

This is an alarming sign for the Lightning as they have struggled mightily over the last year or so. The salary cap has not helped them as they have lost some significant pieces that helped them win two Stanley Cups in recent years and it looks like they are on the verge of losing their captain.
Captain Steven Stamkos said that he's "been disappointed" that the team didn't discuss with him a contract extension over the summer.

Stamkos, who will turn 34 in February, remains a franchise icon and a productive player. Despite being arguably the best player in franchise history, the uncertainty surrounding contract talks raises the possibility of Stamkos moving to a different team.
