The Toronto Marlies have just announced that they have signed defenseman Cameron Gaunce to a PTO. The 33 year old rugged veteran spent most of his career in the AHL, but had a few stints in the NHL with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche.

The 50th overall pick in 2008 played 52 games with the OHL's Ontario Reign last season, scoring two goals and seven assists.
The 33-year-old has played 37 career NHL games.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are heavily shorthanded on the blueline and they have adding some depth will bolster their chances although it seems they will need a big trade to materialize in the near future for a body or two that can log some big minutes with the big club.
