The Leafs should not panic after their slow start to the season. Their 5-4-2 record is far from ideal but they still have largely the same team that went 50-21-11 last year. That being said, the team's offseason acquisitions have not been contributing their fair share to the team. This is a big part of why their record is where it is. One of those new acquisitions could find himself in a familiar spot soon of things do not turn around quickly.
Its one thing for the Leafs to move on from Bertuzzi. While it would be an unconventional move to trade your biggest offseason acquisition just a few months after signing him, they did put him on a one-year deal that makes the move easier. Whether or not Boston would be interested in a reunion remains to be seen however. The B's are firing on all cylinders as they are 9-1-1 through their first ten games. Their +15 goal differential is the 3rd highest in the league, behind only Vegas and Vancouver. Does Bertuzzi even fit on that team anymore? As one fan puts it, no.
It seems then that Bertuzzi's reputation has spread across the league. Perhaps he could only get a one-year offer because teams knew he wouldn't be a good teammate. If this is the case, moving him could prove to be exceptionally difficult, especially at this point in the season.
