Leafs fans were thrilled to see this, as it shows that even though Marner's future with the team is uncertain, coach Berube is making an effort to build a relationship with his star player.
David Perron, now with the Detroit Red Wings, shared his insights on a podcast, which Leafs fans appreciated since he played under Berube for a few seasons in St. Louis.
"He wants to create a partnership with each player, and that's what he did in St. Louis with us."
"You really trust that he's got your back, and I don't know, for me, he got the best out of me every single night —just the way he coached me."
