The Maple Leafs' head coach Sheldon Keefe is playing mind games with the Boston Bruins ahead of their second playoff matchup.
The Leafs held a morning skate earlier today and all eyes were on William Nylander. The Swedish forward didn't take part in the first matchup of the series, but was back on the ice this morning.
At first, he wasn't involved in the line rushes, but ended up rotating with Nicholas Robrtson on the third line:
"William Nylander NOT taking line rushes at skate passing puck with projected scratch Noah Gregor
Leafs showing same lineup as Game 1."
"William Nylander rotated in for Robertson on third line during second drill
Then, he remained on the ice with the projected scratches:
"William Nylander is still on the ice late with the other projected scratches."
"So
-Nylander not on PP1 -Nylander not skating with L3 in line rushes at start
-Nylander does get in at the end -Is wearing top 6 blue (along with the entire T6 group from last game)
Speculation time."
In a press conference, Keefe left the door wide opened for a potential return tonight, saying he'll be a game-time decision.
"Sheldon Keefe leaves the door open to William Nylander potentially playing tonight: "We'll see how he feels here the rest of the day here and make a decision.""
Teams often keep injury updates for themselves during playoffs, but the Leafs took things to another level with Nylander.
