"I think there's a five percent chance or maybe even less that he'll be a Leaf next season."

The five teams that have emerged as contenders for Marner are the Anaheim Ducks, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Utah Coyotes.

These teams are in various positions in the league standings. The Ducks and Blackhawks are bottom three teams, the Coyotes are a bottom seven team, the Penguins barely missed the playoffs, and the Islanders just made it into the playoffs.
Marner would undoubtedly improve any of these teams, potentially elevating players like Trevor Zegras in Anaheim, Connor Bedard in Chicago, Mat Barzal in New York, Sidney Crosby in Pittsburgh, or Clayton Keller in Utah.
