Sheldon Keefe revealed why Tyler Bertuzzi sat out the first ten minutes tonight after the Toronto Maple Leafs 7-3 victory over the Washington Capitals. Keefe reveals Bertuzzi was dealing with illness during game.

Many Leafs fans were confused tonight when winger Tyler Bertuzzi didn't play in the team's first ten minutes of the game. The Leafs head coach revealed that Bertuzzi was dealing with an illness throughout warmups. He was apparently close to being a scratch.
Keefe says Bertuzzi was doubtful right through warmup with an undisclosed illness and that's why he sat almost 10 minutes. The only other avaiable player was Brodie and the coach had already decided the defenceman was getting "a mental rest".
Leafs forward Bobby McMann also confirmed that Bertuzzi was not feeling well at the beginning of the game.
Bobby McMann says Tyler Bertuzzi was feeling a little under the weather and that's what led to him starting on that line tonight.
Bertuzzi ended the game with a little over 14 minutes of ice time, close to his average for the season. He recorded a goal, on a nice setup from Auston Matthews.
