Yesterday, the Canucks shocked the hockey world and traded forward Andrei Kuzmenko, the rights to defensemen Joni Jurmo and Hunter Brzustewicz, a 2024 1st round pick, and a conditional 2024 4th round pick to secure Lindholm's services.

According to insider Elliotte Friedman, the Canucks will do everything in their power to try and secure his services.

Friedman on Elias Lindholm/Canucks (TJMS): "They'll take a run at extending him, I don't think it will be easy, I think it's going to be very hard just because of their cap picture. Put it this way, I think they acquired him with the idea they'd try and keep him if they could"

In a press conference today, Vancouver Canucks President Jim Rutherford provided insights into the team's recent acquisition of forward Elias Lindholm from the Calgary Flames.

"We do look at the two possibilities. Lindholm could be a rental, he could be a long-term guy. In an ideal world, we'd like to keep him long-term, but we'll see how that goes. And, of course, if we do keep him long-term, it will have a domino effect on how many players we can keep from a cap point of view. But, we've got a long ways to go here. We've got over 30 games to go and hopefully a number of playoff games, and that sort of stuff usually sorts itself out. We'll be able to sort that out once we get to the end." - Jim Rutherford

Rutherford emphasized that Lindholm's future in Vancouver hinges on his integration with the team and the envisioned success from a management and coaching perspective. The statement suggests that the Canucks will assess Lindholm's fit with the roster and gauge the team's performance before making decisions about his long-term status.

As the season progresses, Canucks fans will eagerly watch how Lindholm's presence unfolds and whether he becomes a key part of the team's future plans.
