Vancouver Canucks sign former Stanley Cup champion through free agency

Sammy Blais has earned an AHL contract and a professional tryout with an NHL team.

The Vancouver Canucks announced Thursday that the 28-year-old forward has been invited to their training camp after signing with their Abbotsford affiliate.
Blais, from Montmagny, Quebec, played the 2023-24 season with the St. Louis Blues, where he recorded seven points (one goal and six assists) in 53 games.
Drafted by the Blues in 2014, Blais spent four seasons with the team before being traded to the New York Rangers in July 2021. He played a season and a half in New York before being traded back to St. Louis in February 2023.
Throughout his NHL career, Blais has accumulated 71 points (24 goals and 44 assists) in 257 games.
