Darcy Kuemper Misses First Game Of Season For Wholesome Reason

Typically speaking, missing the first game of the season is a sign that a player is not healthy or they are without a contract. While Kuemper missed his season opener tonight, it was for a much happier reason. The Capitals goaltender was busy gaining dad powers as he accompanied his wife in welcoming their newborn son to the world.

The Capitals had to shuffle things around in their lineup to accommodate their goalie but this is one of those things in life that is a lot more important than the outcome of a hockey game.

Hopefully Kuemper can harness his new powers as a dad to lead the Capitals to a playoff run this year.
