Following a tough playoff game against the New York Rangers, Washington Capitals coach Spencer Carbery made the tough call to demote veteran forward Alex Ovechkin in the lineup.

The New York Rangers have been dominant in the regular season, making their bid for the President's Trophy look effortless. Now facing off against the Capitals, who barely made it into the playoffs, the Rangers are leaving little room for their opponents. Coach Carbery commented on Ovechkin's postseason performance in a post-game interview, acknowledging the challenges he's facing against such a strong team.

"#Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin's postseason play is getting commented on by head coach Spencer Carbery..."

In a press conference, Carbery discussed Ovechkin's struggles, noting that the first two games didn't showcase his usual form. However, with the team now back home, there's hope that the 38-year-old forward can turn things around and make a difference.

«I thought the first two games he looked a little off. He's struggling. It's hard. It's the playoffs, on the road, it's a tough matchup. We're back home, now we can control the matchup for him. He can flip it in a heartbeat and be a difference maker»

The Capitals are currently trailing the Rangers in the first round of playoffs, having lost both games so far. Their next match will be at the Capitol One Arena on Friday evening.
