Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness has provided an update on Nikolaj Ehlers' injury and the timetable for when he will return to playing for Winnipeg.
Great Update Regarding Ehlers
Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers has been dealing with an injury recently which has fans worried about if he will be able to make the opening night roster. Today, Rick Bowness shared some insight into Ehlers' injury and when we can expect to see him back on the ice.
«Nik's skating today. Wednesday he'll skate with the big groups. We were hoping to have him in these games. Obviously, that's not going to happen. We'll have to give him a couple of days to get his legs back underneath him.» - Rick Bowness
This update is promising because, despite the loss of the preseason, Ehlers should be good for opening night, if not the first few games of the season.
Ehlers has struggled with injuries in recent years. He has not played in a full 82-game season in every year since 2017-18. Despite this, he remains a solid offensive player, scoring a solid 38 points in 45 games last season. If he can stay healthy for the entire season, he could become pivotal in any Jets playoff run.
