The NHL Draft has produced some of the best players in NHL history. It has also led to plenty of players being overrated or being considered busts. Today the Arizona Coyotes let a former top-5 pick go after his once again did not live up to expectations.
Coyotes Cut Ties With Former Top Draft Pick
The Arizona Coyotes announced several roster moves today. Among those moves was the announcement that former top-5 selection Olli Juolevi had been released from his Player Tryout (PTO).
The Coyotes announced today that the following players have been released from their PTO agreements: •Olli Juolevi (PTO) •Austin Strand (PTO) •Ryan Dzingel (PTO) •Patrick Harper (PTO)
Juolevi was picked 5th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in 2016. Since the Juolevi has struggled to carve out a role in the NHL. He has only played 41 games and had 4 points in his NHL career to this point.
After failing to latch on in a tryout capacity with the Coyotes the NHL opportunities seem to be running out for Juolevi. He will likely now look to head overseas and resurrect his once-promising career.
